The National Examinations Council announced on Wednesday that it has completed payment of allowances for the 72,138 examiners engaged as ad hoc staff for the 2024 School-Based Senior School Certificate Examination.
The Council disclosed this in a statement released by Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations.
According to the statement, NECO began payments on October 4, 2024, on a bank-by-bank basis to facilitate easier reconciliation and a smoother payment process. As of Wednesday, November 13, 2024, all examiners have received their allowances in line with the Council’s payment plan.
The Council noted that some examiners initially provided incorrect bank details, which have since been rectified. Payments have now been cleared with all 24 banks involved in the process.
NECO also dismissed as false recent claims circulating on social media that it had deliberately withheld payment to the examiners engaged for the 2024 SSCE.
“The Management advises that any individual engaged by the Council should seek clarification directly from NECO on matters that concern them before resorting to the media,” the statement read.
The Council reaffirmed its appreciation for its examiners and other ad hoc staff, stressing that it values their contributions to the successful conduct of its examinations and will not overlook their entitlements.
