How To Work as a Sign Installer in Canada

If you want to work in Canada and you need a job that does not require you to have much skill or educational background, then becoming a sign installer should be what you are applying for. Sign Installers’ duties just like the name suggests are basically to mount signs on posts, buildings, and poles. This sounds like what anybody can do right? Don’t get it twisted, sign installers do more than just install signs, they also do a little bit of electrical work. This means you’d need some electrical training to be able to install signs that have electricity if the need arises.

You will also have to learn how to become a professional installer by working under a professional. Your training with a skilled installer and a certificate training in the electrical field will ensure that get all you need to succeed in this field. To become certified as a sign installer you would be required to complete an apprenticeship program and study your way through different courses and on-the-field training to learn the Dos and the Don’ts of sign installers.

As a sign installer, you will mostly transport yourself and equipment to different locations, which would require you to drive around. You will have to obtain a driver’s license to help carry out your job effectively.

Just like most jobs in Canada, you will need to first meet the requirements for a work visa if you are not already in Canada. And if you reside in Canada on a temporary work permit, then you should ensure that it has not expired. You’d also have to ensure that the employer is verified and permitted by the Canadian government to take foreign workers. Below is a job opening in Canada.
