Governor Nyesom Wike
The
Rivers State government has called on civil servants and the organised
labour in the state to cooperate with it in its effort to fish out ghost
workers in the state’s payroll. The state deputy governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, made the call in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by her press secretary, Paul Damgbor, over the on going biometric exercise for civil servants in the state.
Banigo stated that biometric exercise for civil servants is intended to ascertain the real workers and check leakages in the salary vouchers inherited from the past administration.
She noted that government cannot continue to waste resources which could be used to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths and build infrastructure for the overall good of Rivers people.
