Wenger is the reason why I'm staying at Arsenal, insists Ozil

The Germany international insists he still has respect for the Frenchman despite a report claiming that he wants to leave the Gunners if the 66-year-old remains in charge
Mesut Ozil has hit out at claims that he wants to leave Arsenal if Arsene Wenger remains in charge.

Spanish website Don Balon suggested that the Germany international is growing tired of the club’s lack of success in the Premier League and in Europe under Wenger, and is planning on a return to La Liga.

But the Germany international, who was signed by Wenger from Real Madrid for £42.5 million in 2013, insists he still has respect for the Frenchman.

The Arsenal boss has come under renewed pressure as the Gunners face the prospect of another season without a trophy.

Ozil has won back-to-back FA Cup trophies since joining Arsenal and is three assists away from beating Thierry Henry's Premier League record this season
